Kagome’s troubled glance flicked from Inuyasha to Sango. “I’m sorry, Sango-chan. Thanks for the offer, but we’ll have to decline.”
Lowering Shin, Inuyasha glowered over his black pointed eartips at her. “What?”
“Shin and I just got back,” Kagome said, turning toward him and fixing him with a look that was much steadier than she felt. “We need some time together, just the three of us.”
“Of course, Kagome-chan,” Sango said at once, in perfect understanding. “Another time.”
Kagome nodded to her. Plucking Shin from Inuyasha’s claws, she turned toward the door as Sango’s kids chorused, ‘Sayonara!’ Still glowering into her back, Inuyasha followed after.
“What the hell was that about?” he said, the moment they were out of earshot.
“I told you. We need some time alone.”
“Okay,” he said, grumbling, “but why couldn’t we just stay for dinner? It was already done, and dipping out on Sango like that was just plain fucking rude.”
“Sango-chan doesn’t mind,” Kagome snapped, before she could stop herself. “The only one who has a problem with it is you.”
“Oh, yeah, I forgot,” Inuyasha said scathingly, “I’m always the problem.”
Kagome breathed slowly through her nose, in an effort to bring her temper under control. “That’s not what I’m trying to say.”
“What are you trying to say, then?”
Kagome glanced coolly to him, then glanced away. Unable to keep the bite of defensiveness from her tone, she said, “You just seemed awful comfortable over there, that’s all.”
Inuyasha shrugged. “Yeah, so what? Why shouldn’t I be? Sango and Miroku’s place is like a second home to me.”
“Well, it doesn’t seem that way,” Kagome said, feeling wounded and jealous though she had no right to feel either. “It seems to me like you’d rather be over there with her and them than here with Shin and me.”
“Don’t be fucking stupid,” Inuyasha said, scoffing. “Sure, I’d rather be over there than in that empty hut of ours all alone. Who could blame me? Even though Sango’s too proud to ask, I know she appreciates me looking out for her and the kids. So it’s a win-win in my mind.”
“That’s not how others might see it. You’re a married man, and she’s a widow.”
Inuyasha snorted. “Like I give a fuck about what other people ‘might’ think. I haven’t done anything wrong, and neither has she.” His golden eyes slid to her with a dark glint of suspicion. “Where’s all this coming from, anyway? You’ve been acting damn strange since you showed up today.”
Kagome looked away from him, abashed. Here she was about to deal Inuyasha the worst blow imaginable, and she was hung up on her own petty feelings of inferiority. The hard truth of it was, as low as she felt, she deserved to feel this way.
“Never mind,” she said quietly. “Let’s just go home.”
They’d barely crossed the threshold of the hut when youki blazed across Kagome’s senses, bearing down on her with thunderous dark force. In her arms, Shin whimpered, human again and bluely flickering. Beside her, Inuyasha tensed, bristling, as Sesshoumaru appeared before them, scintillating with suppressed rage.

Neither Sango or Inuyasha know about her transgression w Sesshomaru and yet they’re all chummy chummy when Kagome isn’t around. Like, Inuyasha go get a hobby instead of hanging around Sango’s place and playing step-daddy. And Sango, girl, what are you doing with your best friend’s man 24/7? That can’t seem appropriate. Bad form on both parties. Tsk tsk.

Loved it 💕 this update feels like a good flow into the final confrontation.
It’s futile at this point, but I think Kagome still deserved to express her hurt about his callousness. Inuyasha barely acknowledged her or even told her “welcome back”. The rug is gonna get yanked out from under him with a VENGEANCE after how long he took her for granted.

Are kidding me, you left us biting our fingernails! The only thing that bothering me is why is Sesshoumaru so angry unless he thinks Kagome is jealous over Inuyasha and maybe Sango together? Because Inuyasha isn’t talking any different than he always does to Kagome unless Sesshoumaru knows that there is something going on between Inuyasha and Sango? Ohhh he might have overheard about Rin and Kohaku eloping 👀 Could also be annoyed Kagome didn’t drop the bomb yet, but like, what was she supposed to do? Say it in front of Sango and her kids?? And, totally valid that she’d be bothered by Inuyasha barely welcoming her back and being super obnoxious about Kagome just wanting to get home. Like obviously Kagome is projecting, possibly rightfully so, because she’s being unfaithful and we all know how that shit goes. I wonder if Sesshomaru had been following her and listening. The slight jealousy she’s exhibiting is SO WEIRD and Sesshomaru probably picked up on it so he thought he was being made a fool of. Kagome has to realize that the best outcome of this whole situation is also going to be painful and, barring any unforseen changes, Inuyasha is going to move on with someone else and she has to live with being able to see that. Kagome seems to have more understanding of her feelings than she did before but she still needs to sort them out and follow through. She can’t be jealous and reprimanding Inuyasha about hanging with Sango when she’s possibly about to leave him and tell him his child isn’t his after spending several days with her mate. In the same breath, her feelings are valid in the fact that Inuyasha doesn’t know what’s about to happen and from random spectators, it does look bad to be constantly hanging around Sango and her kids without Kagome. Either way, this shows Inuyasha isn’t going to provide the level of maturity and emotional intelligence Kagome wants/needs. Kagome needs to rip the bandaid off already and end this train wreck of a marriage before Sesshomaru ends Inuyasha.

I think it’s natural for her to feel hurt and jealous, especially when Inuyasha’s been propping up Sango and putting her down for a long time. Lingering feelings are hard to shed. Her resentment was probably bubbling over in that moment.
Also, his complete disregard for his ‘wife’ is just staggering 🥲 There’s some of that for Shin too, otherwise he would’ve stayed home more often despite their differences

I knew Kagome wasn’t going to have the balls to do it and I am so happy that Sessh has had enough of this and is finally going to end this BS once and for all.
But now that I think of it, he could also be pissed off at the whole eloping thing and he’s gonna have to choose between retrieving Rin back or dealing with the current situation with Kagome and Inuyasha. Because even though he didn’t hate Kohaku, he still disagreed with them getting married due to how early it was.
Yep there’s plenty of reasons for him to be angry, that’s for sure XD
