SessKag Series: The Pact, Part 139

This entry is part 139 of 141 in the series The Pact [Ongoing]

Before Kagome—or even Inuyasha—could blink, Sesshoumaru was on her, glaring daggers into her eyes. “Rin is gone,” he said, seething. “This is your doing.”

“Hey, back the fuck off her,” Inuyasha growled, wedging himself in-between them. “So you’re mad that Rin and Kohaku got hitched. Fine, but how the hell is that Kagome’s ‘doing’? She wasn’t even here when it happened. She was on the other side of the well. It was Kaede who married them. And since when is that such a fucking crime, anyway?”

“Stay out of this,” Sesshoumaru snarled, shoving him aside.

Inuyasha stumbled back, but only for a moment. Ears pinned, he recovered, baring his fangs at Sesshoumaru.

“Shove me like that again, and I’ll light your ass up,” Inuyasha snarled back at him. “You’ve got some goddamn nerve, storming in here like this. So Rin is gone—that’s just life, you fucking hardass. Rin’s a grown woman, she can make her own decisions. What did you think, that she’d stay a child forever? Kohaku’s a good guy. He loves her, that’s plain, and she loves him, too. So get a fucking clue, Sesshoumaru. She’s not your little girl anymore. And while you’re at it, you might as well think twice about trespassing in my house and menacing my wife.”

Sesshoumaru rounded upon him, glaring pure murder. Still flaring with reiki, Shin went rigid in Kagome’s arms, digging his blunt little fingers clawlike into her wrist. As quickly as she could, Kagome interceded. She placed a hand to Sesshoumaru’s crackling shoulder, wincing at the dark demonic burn he dealt her.

“Sesshoumaru, please. You’re frightening Shin.”

Reluctantly, Sesshoumaru’s searing gaze dragged away from Inuyasha. Kagome watched as his blazing golden eyes fell to Shin’s wide, wary blue ones. Sesshoumaru’s slit pupils narrowed another sharp fraction. Without a word, he turned and stalked from the hut, with his reined-in youki clashing about him like a bottled storm.

“Motherfucker,” Inuyasha muttered, his silver hair frazzled from the charge.

Kagome sagged in relief. She hastened over to the crib and placed Shin into it. At once, he pulled himself upright against the bars and peeped over the rail. Kagome had the sense he wanted to transform and pursue Sesshoumaru, but at a forbidding look from her, Shin desisted. Turning toward Inuyasha, Kagome realized with dread that he was poised to do the same, as he touched a clawed hand to Tessaiga.

“Inuyasha, stop,” she said, rushing over and taking him by the arm. “Leave him be.”

“I have a bad feeling he’s gonna do something violent.”

“Well, you charging after him would pretty much guarantee it.”

But Kagome could see even as she said this that Inuyasha wasn’t going to be deterred by words alone. Still she had to try.

“Let me go and speak to him, try to talk him down. He left on foot. If I hurry, I’m sure I can catch up with him.”

“Fuck that.”

Kagome’s eyes flashed. Rounding upon him, she spoke the words she hadn’t spoken in years.

Sit, boy.”

She spoke the subjugation command with such desperate force that it yanked Inuyasha straight down through the floorboards, splintering them on impact. Shin morphed in an instant, leaping down from the crib in his four-legged form and nuzzling his snowy muzzle into Inuyasha’s sprawled unconscious form. His red almond eyes raised to her as he whined.

“He’s okay, baby.”

With her heart heavy in her throat, Kagome turned toward the door. She passed through the curtain with Shin’s sleek beastly bulk slinking after her in tow.

  1. Poor little dude having daddy and uncle ready to rumble. Can’t wait for the next chapter! This story has me hooked.. well all your work has that affect 😉

  2. I figured that was the reason for his anger. Just because he has Shin does not make Rin any less of his child as well, so his reaction is totally reasonable. Though I wonder why he was accusing Kagome? If I remember from the previous chapters, I think she did encourage Rin to be with Kohaku. At this point, I think their plans are gonna be on hold and Sessh’s attitude toward Kagome is going to change negatively. Though I do hope they rekindle soon!

    1. “Just because he has Shin does not make Rin any less of his child as well,” – well said! poor Papa Sess…

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the scene, Pixie! Hope you enjoy the next part <3

  3. Ooof that threw a wrench into things! Lmao Inuyasha’s a good guy, jumping in to defend Kagome, but you know his dusty ass wouldn’t have been able to do much. They’re all so hot tempered. I foresee that a reconciliation with Rin and Kohaku will be next on the docket, before SessKag can be official-offcial. Maybe Rin’s going to give Kagome a healthy push to elope with Sesshomaru 👀👀👀👀

    1. “Lmao Inuyasha’s a good guy, jumping in to defend Kagome, but you know his dusty ass wouldn’t have been able to do much. ” – ahahaha so true XD but the hard facts of the matter never have stopped him, have they? lmao

      Thanks for sharing, mim!! <3

  4. AHHHH, you spoil us with two updates this week! I could cry lol. I am so excited to see where this goes next. ❤️ I have a feeling Inu is gonna overhear some things honestly.

    1. Yay thanks, Becky – so glad you’re enjoying the updates & stoked to see what happens next…! <3

  5. The way I jumped up when I saw the update 😂Kagome’s meddling came back to bite her at the worst moment. Let’s hope she doesn’t end up having to fight two dogs 🥴

    1. Yeahh things are seeming tense here…

Thanks for sharing, friend! Hope you enjoy the next part…! <3

  6. Okay like Sesshoumaru should care about Rin right he’s done such a great job with her. Sesshoumaru is a nutcase at times lol. I thought sure he’d be more interested in Kagome not Rin! Rin probably got tired of him always doing something else instead of caring about her life. You know if he’s going to act like this to Kagome I think I’d rethink this whole being with Sesshoumaru and go back home. Maybe, she needs to tell both these dogs to get lost and tell Sango that she’s a terrible friend to boot. Thanks for the update!

    1. Thanks, Redwolf! Yep, totally see where you’re coming from – this scene really throws a wrench into things, for sure. Hope you enjoy the next chapter! <3

  7. DAYUM but I knew Kagome was going to get in trouble for this 🥲 It was just reckless telling Rin to elope when she didn’t fully understand the situation. It also meant she didn’t consider Sesshoumaru’s feelings too, which is just unfair considering how much he’s made concessions for her.

    1. Yeahh Kagome always has the tendency to charge in head first on things XD

Thanks for sharing, Inupapa! Hope you enjoy how things go down…! <3

  8. Well… Can’t say I pity her since she gets into these situations herself. Her thing with Inuyasha is already ruined even without her confessing yet, but I hope she doesn’t ruin this good thing with Sesshomaru too by meddling with his ward. Poor Shin is just stuck in the middle of his shitty mom’s mess. 😞

    1. “Can’t say I pity her since she gets into these situations herself. ” – lol totally fair

Thanks for sharing, synn, and hope you enjoy how things play out! <3

  9. I did not see this turn of events lol, but Kagome needs to be scolded for her little advice she gave Rin, she stuck herself into a situation she had no business in.

Oh kagome… the whole you’ve dug yourself keeps getting bigger

    1. Yeahhh she’s in deep, that’s for sure…

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts on the scene, Maya! Hope you enjoy the next!! <3

  10. Definitely complicated feelings all around > <

*sweats*On one hand I hope Kagome prepared a convincing speech for this. It would be truly awful(and possibly unforgivable) if she hadn't cared at all how Sess might feel about this matter when she chose to get involved.

On the other hand, the fact that he interrupted at this crucial moment could also subtly mean Rin is more important to him than Kagome and Shin. It makes sense, and it's probably just when Sess didn't matter to /Kagome/ when she gave that advice, but it's also pretty sad. And just when they started to get closer 😭

    1. “Definitely complicated feelings all around > <" - yepp, absolutely Thanks for sharing your take on the scene, oskorreia! The timing of all this really couldn't be worse, could it? Hope you enjoy the next chapter!! <3

  11. Another update askjbfhcijuhvk thank you!!!!

I’ll bet Sess is mad 🥲🥲 They all did it behind his back and the woman he’s closest to betrayed him as well. Also, I think there’s not enough information to consider whether Rin and Kohaku’s elopement is good or not. What if Sess had an important reason why he didn’t approve?

    1. Thanks, Kova! So glad you enjoyed the double update!! It’s very true that there’s a lot of room for speculation here…

Hope you enjoy how the story progresses from here! <3

  12. I think it’s hilarious that last chapter, I was all on Team Sesshomaru but now…

SESSHOMARU, GET. OVER. IT. Honestlyyy, giving all that attitude to my baby Kagome and in front of Shin as well. Who do you think you are you dumb dog.

I can’t lie, Inuyasha is so dreamy when he defends Kagome jskldgklsdgsd. I mean, Sesshomaru could totally kill him but still. The fact that he’ll risk his life for Kagome over and over again is very cute. I still want sesskag endgame obvs but yea, good job Inuyasha. I’m sorry she ‘sit boy’ed you <3

    1. “I can’t lie, Inuyasha is so dreamy when he defends Kagome jskldgklsdgsd’ – hahaha I know what you mean! He is endearing in his own way XD

Thanks for sharing, bella! Hope you enjoy the next part!! <3

  13. another confession interruptus 😅

while everyone was cheering and happy about rin and kohaku’s marriage, kagome should’ve known sess would be simmering in the background

    1. “another confession interruptus 😅” – hahaha love it XD

      Thanks for sharing, rehizakki!! <3

  14. … that ‘Sit’ was so satisfying 😔✨ Crops watered skin cleared.

I feel so bad for baby Shin. He must be stressed and confused right now. All the adults around him are dumb :’)

    1. “that ‘Sit’ was so satisfying 😔✨ Crops watered skin cleared.” – hahaha sometimes a good ‘sit’ is in order XD

Yeah poor baby Shin, caught in the middle of all this…

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, hanayome!! <3

  15. I remember wincing at Kagome’s encouragement of Rin eloping with Kohaku earlier–mainly because young love is rarely wise or enduring. After all, how well has it endured for herself and Inuyasha?

    1. A very fair question 😉 It’s just so hard to predict how things will play out, even under the best of circumstances…

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, friend! Hope you enjoy the next chapter!! <3

  16. THIS!!

Kagome plucked the jade comb from Shin just as he began to gnaw at it with his sharp little fangs. In a breeze he transformed back into his human self, looking distinctly put-out.

Threading the comb into Rin’s dark shining hair, Kagome said, “Leave Sesshoumaru to me.”

    Tearfully, Rin smiled.

I’M PRAYING VERY HARD FOR KAGOME TO HAVE SOME KIND OF SESSHOUMARU TRUMP CARD UP HER SLEEVE CUZ THIS FEELS LIKE IT COULD EITHER MAKE THEM OR BREAK THEM!! I’M DELUSIONALLY PLACING MY HOPES ON HER CONFIDENCE!!!

    1. Here’s to hoping she’s got that trump card ready XD

Thanks for sharing, sesshousimp! Love hearing your take on these developments and how they tie into the previous scene! Hope you enjoy the next chapter <3

  17. Oh man! Now Kagome isn’t going to talk to Inuyasha and break it off. Ugh. More waiting!

Sesshomaru probably thinks that she used that time alone with him so Rin could get hitched.

    1. Yepp she got derailed again lol

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the scene, Kathy! Hope you enjoy the next! 😉 ❤️

  18. Oooh I knew that thing with Rin was gonna come back to bite her 🥲 I was pretty disappointed with Kagome at the time. She should’ve known what it was like at Rin’s age, and she should’ve understood that if Sess wanted Rin to wait, then he did it out of love.

Rin is one of the very few fifteen year olds in that time period who has the opportunity to explore her options. She could’ve built up her skills as a seamstress, or do whatever she wanted. Now things are complicated because she was impatient.

    1. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Rin’s situation! Fair points all around 😊 hope you enjoy the next chapter!! 💕

  19. Uffff, poor Kagome. She is the main example of the old ”no good deed goes unpunished” saying!
I’m a little disappointed in her, though. Kagome should have known that 15 years old is awfully young to get married. Looking it in other light, I think she understands Edo had different ways back then and getting in the way of Rin marrying as soon as she found herself a good suitor could mean something was wrong with the young woman.

And while I love Rin and Koha together I don’t understand why did they elope? But I know Sesshomaru wouldn’t understand, and Rin is just a child… maybe she felt left out. I agree with the reader that pinpointed that Sesshomaru was always doing his own thing and not paying his ward much attention. Presents can’t replace a hug, Sessho!

Oh boy. As Sesshomaru said before to Kagome: ”[Shin] dug up his own hole. He should find his own way out of it.”
Like father, like son goes the saying? More like mother, like son lol

Waiting for the next chapter!! 💕

    1. “She is the main example of the old ”no good deed goes unpunished” saying!” – lol true enough! XD

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the scene & hope you enjoy the next chapter! 💕
